I am always hearing about how horrible the people from church are. It is funny because usually it is coming from people who are not doing anything to make a change is this world, in their community, or even in their own lives. I typically hear this from people who look more at what other people are doing other than looking on the inside and making a change in their own lives. I have learned over the years that you can't change people but you CAN change yourself. Every single one of us can be better Christians, better servants for our God. If we take a look at Jesus, he wasn't interested nor focused in the sins of the people but rather than saving, loving and changing them. “If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world." John 12:47. It is our responsibility to make an impact on this world, and this can only start if we work on our personal relationship with God first. Making sure that we crucify our bad nature daily and take it upon ourselves not to judge our brothers and sisters in Christ rather pray for them, encourage them, and be a helping hand in a time of need. "You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh ; rather, serve one another humbly in love" Galatians 5:13. I believe if we are to make a change/impact our surroundings, then the change must come with within. If we make sure that our walk is right with God then we can be a positive influence to those around us. So the next time you hear anyone talking badly about those in church, remind them that the are not perfect and Jesus didn't die on the cross for a perfect church (because then His death would of been in Vain) but rather He came for the broken hearted, the wounded, the needy and the sick so that he might give them life ever lasting. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" John 3:16 :)
